Brainexpedition – Learn how psychologists think
Why do we think the way we do? Why do we feel what we feel? How does our brain actually work? And how can you learn to better understand yourself and others?
Brainexpedition is a challenging enrichment program for curious, cognitively advanced, and gifted upper elementary students. Together with Curio, students explore psychology in an investigative and interactive way.
Students explore topics that go beyond standard enrichment materials. They do not just learn new information; they are challenged to investigate, reflect, ask questions, make connections, and think about themselves and others.
What makes Brainexpedition different?
Many enrichment materials focus on more knowledge, harder assignments, or extra work. Brainexpedition takes a different approach: students explore how people think, feel, respond, learn, and make choices.
The program is designed for children who enjoy thinking deeply and want to understand how things work. Not only in the world around them, but also inside their own minds.
The lessons encourage discussion, investigation, creativity, movement, and reflection. As a result, students develop not only their knowledge of psychology, but also self-awareness, critical thinking, empathy, and metacognitive skills.
What will students learn?
The program consists of 10 lessons. In Brainexpedition, students explore topics including:
- what psychology is;
- how thoughts, feelings, and behavior influence one another;
- how the brain works;
- what reflexes are;
- how thoughts can sometimes help us or hold us back;
- how feelings arise and how to handle them;
- what personality is;
- how attention and concentration work;
- how learning and memory work;
- what empathy means;
- how to make choices;
- how psychological research works.
Ready to use with a clear structure
Brainexpedition was developed for teachers and educators who want to offer their students meaningful enrichment without having to design an entire program themselves.
The lessons are clearly organized and follow a consistent structure, including a lesson opener, learning objectives, activities, and an evaluation. The teacher guide provides practical guidance for implementation, differentiation, and facilitating discussions.
Lessons take about 90 minutes on average, depending on the group. The consistent lesson structure gives students clarity and helps them know what to expect.
Teacher guidance remains important
Brainexpedition is not an independent workbook for students to complete on their own. The guidance of a teacher or educator is an important part of what makes the program effective.
The lessons provide plenty of opportunities for discussion, sharing ideas, reflection, and active learning. The teacher guide emphasizes the importance of a safe learning environment, clear discussion guidelines, and supporting students throughout their learning process.
The materials support the educator, but do not replace them.
