Traditional enrichment often consists of harder assignments, extra worksheets or simply more of the same. Gifted learners thrive when they are free to ask meaningful questions, investigate ideas, create original solutions and take ownership of their learning.
Why gifted children sometimes struggle
Gifted children are naturally curious, creative and capable of deep thinking. Yet many struggle in classrooms where success is measured by finding the right answer rather than exploring ideas. As a result, they may lose motivation, avoid challenges or never learn how to deal with uncertainty and mistakes. As a psychologist, teacher and mother of three gifted daughters, I saw how few enrichment materials truly matched the way curious children learn. Much of today’s enrichment consists of harder exercises, extra worksheets or simply more of the same.
That’s why I design learning programs that encourage children to investigate, create, discover and think critically. Not because gifted children need more work, but because they need the freedom to follow their curiosity.
